About this pilot
This simplified version of the SANBI-GBIF node website is an experimental site that demonstrates GBIF’s ability to index species occurrence records against a national taxonomic checklist.
Variations in species names complicate efforts to monitor biodiversity across global and national scales, and the functionality shown in this site enables countries to match and index global species records with the scientific names they actually use. These improvements increased support for countries to manage national lists of species names and enhance the accuracy and interoperability of species data used in national reporting under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).
